The NoMad Bar - Sunday Funday Edition

"The overall consensus was that the NoMad has one doggone fine burger. The taste and harmonious were right up there with the best of ‘em, and the creatively-infused bone marrow and suet added a luxurious flavor and texture to the top-notch beef blend. The cheese, grilled onion and secret sauce added complexity and the sturdy bun carried it all right home into our savagely-gaping maws. But taste, texture and harmoniousness alone aren’t enough, and the NoMad took a bit of a hit in other areas, which dropped the overall score and kept it out of the top spot…the fact that the burger didn’t come with sides (unless you count a pickled cucumber - which some loved and others did not - a carrot and a slice of fennel as a “side”), and fries clocked in at $8 per (admittedly-hearty) serving. That said, given the $18 price tag, I think people would’ve preferred tacking on an extra few bucks and loading some fries onto the wooden board-plate. The venue ambiance was generally high, praising the stylish interior and ‘cool kids’ atmosphere (Eric Scmidt from Google was in attendance, but didn’t RSVP so wasn’t allowed to join the group), and while the maitre’ds definitely hated us and our ever-growing herd of patty-fanatics, the waiters and waitresses were accommodating and lovely. And let it be said - if we were the Monthly Cocktail Club, this place would’ve gotten 10/10. Some fine drinks there… Thanks to the ‘notes’ section of the website voting, certain individuals were allowed to continue their slanderous tradition of rating me not just as an organizer, but also as a human being. I’m sad to report that I’ve dropped back down to my original levels of 3.7…hopefully as the website continues to develop I’ll be able to boost that north of 5 again, or figure out how to code so I can remove the f-ing notes section altogether..."
